Will I need toe studs?
Yes, you will. It’s been heavily raining the last few days and whatever happens, there will be banks you can’t ride and will struggle to grip on without studs. So you have been told.

We’re proud to partner with Lakes Brew Co this year and want you to enjoy a relaxing and refreshing beer or over the weekend. Staffed and sorted with great thanks to Wheelbase and the New Union, Kendal, we aim to ring some fine beers and all being well a bit of hot wine will be on hand, too.
The responsible bit:
This will mean nominating a driver, and for everyone’s comfort and safety, the bar will not be open in the evening for those staying on site. Sorry. … and cheers.
We’ve all been there, and know what it’s like. That last minute throwing of the jacket and tights. The quick photo of the start then the mad dash to get to the pits in time.
Designing a course to allow riders to pass the pits relatively early sounds straightforward. Riders need that if they have an incident just after the start. But in such circumstances, it’s also hard for th ehelpers to get to the pits in time. So we have to compromise.
The pits is a 220 metre walk or jog from the start. By our calculations, that’s less than a couple of mins, even with wellies on. And it takes riders a couple of mins to ride to the pit, so you will probably need to leave at the “30 seconds” call unless you fancy a sprint.
Here’s the route.
Practice sessions are essential. We get that. We are opening the course at 3pm on Friday 13 Jan for anyone who can make it. It will be open for 75 minutes, possibly 90 if daylight allows. Riders joining on Friday MUST do so with a numbered wrist band, available at the registration tent from 14:45 on Friday.
We also know how much Commissaire teams have struggled with keeping things running smoothly to timetable.
Riders joining the course in the right place may seem trivial to some, but it’s crucial at such a busy event. It allows the Commissaires to use their discretion to let you start course practice as quickly as possible. Better for you, better for everyone.
Please check here to ensure that you join the official practice sessions AFTER THE FINISH where the DOTTED ORANGE LINE in the image shows you.

Watching the racing at the weekend is free for all spectators, but the costs of the event mean that we do need to charge for parking and camping.
There will be a modicum of faff that you probably could do without, unless you pre-book your parking. And for the safety of all our volunteers this helps us operate ‘cashless‘.
Your well behaved dogs are very welcome on site this weekend.
Remember that dogs aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, so please consider others by keeping them on short leads.
We’ve now opened up booking on Eventbrite to pre-book the following
It’s important that you book in advance – we will be able to direct you to the link below in the car parking area on your arrival but nobody really wants that kind of faff!!
There is a small charge made by Eventbrite to provide the service. The rest of the money goes towards the cost of running this prestige event on private land. Thanks for helping us to do that!
